Dr. Kelly Shannon

Meet Dr. Kelly

Kelly graduated from James Madison University in 2005 where she studied Biology and received her Bachelors of Science degree. She then attended the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating in 2008 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While in college, Kelly gained experience in various settings through clinical rotations, including acute care, pediatrics, orthopedics, as well as sports medicine.

Since graduating, she has been working in the outpatient orthopedic setting, joining the team at Frederick Sport and Spine in 2015. Kelly has always made it her main focus to individualize every patient’s treatment, to allow for return to function and  achievement of their goals. She has taken continuing education in several areas of interest, to include spinal mobilization, PRI techniques, Sacroiliac Dysfunction, Myofascial Release, and IASTM. She also has education in Running Rehabilitation, which allows her to be able to evaluate running technique in order to help runners develop a plan to run stronger, more efficiently, and reduce their risk for injury. She is also certified in Dry Needling, an approach used to treat trigger points and is often a great adjunct to the treatment.

In her spare time, she enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, and chasing after her two young girls.
