Dr. Kelly Shannon

Meet Dr. Kelly

Kelly is a 2005 graduate of James Madison University where she studied Biology and received her Bachelors of Science degree. She then attended the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating in 2008 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While in college, Kelly gained experience in various settings through clinical rotations, including acute care, pediatrics, orthopedics, as well as sports medicine. She completed a clinical rotation at IMG Academies, where she worked with elite student athletes from around the world.

Since graduating, she has been working in the outpatient orthopedic setting, where she has focused on returning the patient back to their prior levels of functions through a combination of manual therapy and exercises specific to each person. She believes that various forms of manual therapy, including Myofascial Release, Joint Mobilization, and Muscle Energy Techniques are essential throughout the treatment process and has adopted a “hand on” approach to her treatments when indicated.  She has recently taken continuing education in Running Rehabilitation, which allows her to be able to evaluate running technique in order to help runners  develop a plan to run stronger, more efficiently, and reduce their risk for injury.

In her spare time, she enjoys camping and hiking, cooking, spoiling her dog Jack, and helping her husband renovate their house in downtown Frederick.
